Xiaomi surpassed Samsung as the world’s second-largest smartphone brand in Q2 2021, delivering over 53 million devices. The demand for the Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 10 series, and Mi 11 series resulted in a whopping 98 percent increase in shipments, according to the research group. In terms of exports, the Chinese firm increased by 8% over the previous quarter.
With 57.9 million devices shipped in the second quarter of this year, Samsung was once again at the top of the list. Shipments increased only 7% year over year but fell 24% quarter over quarter. In terms of revenue, Samsung had a 30 percent drop from the previous quarter, but a 7 percent increase from the same period last year. Supply limitations and diversification of its product and channel strategy in some countries contributed to the decrease.
